Prospective Members
If you are interested in making a commitment to volunteering, then the Junior League of Rochester is the organization for you! Whether you're new to the area or have lived here all your life, the Junior League opens doors to new friends and opportunities. As a member, you'll combine your energy with other women to make a difference in Rochester.

We host informational meetings twice a year to recruit new members.  These meetings gives prospective members an opportunity to meet league members in a casual environment, hear about some of the JLR community projects, and learn more about becoming a member of our volunteer organization. If you or someone you know would like to attend the next meeting this February, or would like additional information on joining, please email our Membership Recruitment Chair at: jlrmembership@yahoo.com.

Who Can Join:
Members of the League shall be not less than 21 years of age upon filing for provisional status and must reside within the Greater Rochester metropolitan area.  All members share an interest in voluntarism and an interest in developing potential for voluntary community participation and a commitment to community service.

Provisional Members
A Provisional is a new Junior League member that has committed to the required class session which will provide them with basic training and information about the Junior Leagues mission, goals, organizational structure and class project.  The Provisional training must be complete before you can be an active member of the Junior League of Rochester.

Admissions Procedure:
The Admissions Committee will hold informational meetings throughout the year for the candidates.  The meetings are educational and social.

  1. Each Provisional member shall sign an agreement with the League stating her intent to fulfill the requirements for the Provisional course.  The Provisional fee and League dues are payable at this time.

  2. An Admissions/Provisional committee member is responsible for her assigned Provisional until they are accepted into Active membership.  This responsibility includes accompanying Provisional to meetings and helping them become an integral part of the League.

  3. Incoming Provisional Transfers shall complete all requirements of Provisional membership of this League prior to being accepted into Active membership.

  4. A reinstated Provisional shall fulfill all Provisional requirements as determined on an individual basis by the Admissions Committee.

  5. Each Provisional receives a Provisional Course Training Manual to educate new members about the JLR and AJLI.

  6. Provisional will immediately participate in the work of the League by attending general meetings and joining a committee.

  7. During the Provisional year new members will be offered events pertaining to training, socializing, field trips and education about the local community.

In addition, Provisional Classes work together on either a project or fundraiser.  For more information on what some of the classes have done, check out the class projects.

The 2008-2009 class instruction is under the direction of Admissions/Provisional Chair, Elizabeth Alexander.
