WHO WE ARE
The Junior League of Rochester, Inc. (JLR) reaches out to women of all races,
religions, and national origins, who demonstrate an interest in and
commitment to voluntarism. It
is part of the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI),
which includes nearly 300 Leagues in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and England.
MISSION
STATEMENT
The JLR is an organization of women
committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women,
and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of
trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational
and charitable.
FOCUS
The Junior League of Rochester is committed to providing resources and programs to improve the lives of those who live in the Rochester area. The JLR believes by concentrating our volunteer efforts we can increase the impact in our local community. After researching the needs and interests of our members, as well as the community,
we adopted
a new focus.
Beginning in 2007-2008, the Junior League of Rochester will devote its efforts to “Empowering and nurturing today’s teenage girls with life skills.” The JLR believes all young women should have access to the tools necessary for a bright future. To further that objective, the JLR will offer innovative programs for teen women focusing on self-esteem, nutrition, leadership and mentoring to help them reach their potential and lay a healthy foundation for their future.
