Community Relations Council GIRLSrock!: is responsible for coordinating and implementing four community service events in 2008-2009. Committee members will work in one of two sub committees. The two opportunities are Tools 4 Life and Kids in the Kitchen. The primary audience for Girls Rock will fit within our focus of “Empowering and nurturing today’s Teen Girls with life skills”. This committee provides an excellent opportunity for those with a desire to plan our community project and to work directly with the community. Our mission is to provide an exciting and welcoming environment to nurture and empower young teen girls through a series of workshops. We also strive to provide the entire membership with multiple opportunities to volunteer in the community with options on both weekends and weekdays. Public Affairs Committee: provides a great opportunity for women to get involved in community and political issues. Members learn about legislation at the local, state and national levels, and how that legislation impacts women. Letter writing, visits to legislators and attendance at regional community action groups make up a great deal of this committee’s work. Plans often include a trip to Albany in the fall and/or spring. External Relations Committee: is responsible for the branding/marketing efforts of the League including replenishment and upkeep of existing branding/marketing projects such as League stationery, business cards, brochures, and “Table in a Box” tool kits. External Relations is also responsible for all general Public Service Announcements (PSAs), Press Releases, etc. for the League (centralized PR) and for replenishment of all created League PR packages (Public Relations Package, Media Kit, Print & Radio
PSA). Finance & Development Council Holiday Market Committee: is the JLR’s fall fundraiser. This year the event will be held on Oct 18-19, 2008 at the Fair and Expo Center. The Holiday Market presents fine artists and artisans offering a wide array of handcrafted art, jewelry, ceramics, apparel, toys and purveyors of the finest in gourmet treats, unique gifts and elegant services. Since this is the first event, the committee will be creating the template for future Holiday Markets. Committee members work as a team to deliver: Project Plan and Budget, Venue Specifications and Contract, Vendor Relations and Recruitment, Public Relations, Marketing and Advertising, Event Management and Logistics, Event Sponsorship, Event Floor Plan/Booth Layout Design, Event Décor and Hospitality, and Event Staffing.
